First Look: Unboxing & Setting Up the Aquael Bluetooth Ultra Slim LED Light - Part 1

Part 1 of our first look at AQUAEL's Ultra Slim Bluetooth LED — a new-to-the-US-market light we got our hands on early. This is a full unboxing and mounting walkthrough covering both freshwater (FW) planted and saltwater (SW) marine spectrum modes.

Sizing & Spectrum

Three models: 30W (~29cm), 60W (~57cm), and 90W (~90cm) — each with enough spread to cover a tank one size class up (a 30cm light comfortably covers a 60cm tank, etc). Unlike the deep royal-blue look of many high-end reef lights, the Marine spectrum here leans toward a metal halide-style look with strong red output, making it a genuinely good candidate for a macroalgae display alongside typical reef coloration.

Build Quality

Brushed aluminum housing and glass lens (not plastic) — glass won't yellow or go brittle over time the way plastic diffusers can. A beefy power supply reflects the light's real output: 60W is meaningfully stronger than most 24" lights, which typically max around 40W.

Mounting Options

• Adjustable leg mounts for standard rimmed or rimless tanks
• Stainless steel wire hanging kit for rimless setups or UNS Pro hanging bar systems
• An extension kit that adds up to ~17" of additional height above the tank without needing the wire kit — ideal for paludariums or riparium setups with tall emersed growth
• Physical multi-function button for power and cycling saved presets, even without the app connected

App & Presets

Bluetooth app control includes Plant, Sunny, Marine, and fully Custom presets, plus a day/night (DNN) mode for programmable sunrise-to-sunset ramping with adjustable moonlight intensity. The app automatically caps each color channel based on the light's total wattage budget, so you can't accidentally overdrive the unit.
