One of the most common complaints from freshwater (FW) planted tank owners: aqua soil, especially UNS Controsoil, ends up scattered across your sand cap during maintenance, and it's genuinely hard to pick back up cleanly.
The Fix: A Magnetic Spade
UNS Controsoil is so effective at holding onto fertilizers and nutrients (it's naturally iron-rich) that it actually sticks to magnets. Attach small magnets to a spade or the UNS Stainless Steel Flattener, run it across your sand where the soil has scattered, and lift — the Controsoil clings right to it. Shake it off wherever you need it (back into your planting zone, or out of the tank entirely) and your sand cap stays clean.
This trick may work on other soil brands too, though we've only confirmed it with Controsoil specifically.
