Nature Aquariums is looking for a Marine Biology Major student for internship at our aquarium store. Located in the heart of Broward County, we are centrally located.

We are a growing store with a passion for the wellbeing and care of aquatic life. We take on a holistic approach to the education of customers so that they can provide the best possible care for their aquatic pets.

As an intern, you would:

  • Greet customers as they come into showroom.
  • Assist the team with helping customers.
  • Assist the team with the maintenance and care of the aquariums and related systems.
  • Learn the various aspects of the aquarium trade via hands on projects and activities.
  • Become proficient in learning marine and freshwater flora and fauna.

What we offer:

  • Great up close experience observing and learning about of hundreds of marine and freshwater fish, inverts, corals and plants.
  • Comprehensive real world experience in diagnosing and correcting water chemistry and fauna health issues in aquarium settings.
  • Experience in a retail customer setting, learning how to interact in a professional manner with customers.
  • Experience with a for profit environment, we will teach basic business experience.
  • Coaching and feedback through the internship.
  • Provide proof of internship to your school for applicable credit.

This is an unpaid internship. We have openings from 8 weeks to a max of 16 weeks.

The schedule would require a Saturday and or Sunday in addition to time during the week. Schedule would be between 15-25 hrs. a week – flexible to accommodate school load.

There will be assessments of knowledge along the way to provide progress feedback.

Upon successful completion of internship, Nature Aquariums will provide a letter of recommendation for student’s future use.

Who we are looking for:

  • Customer experience preferred but not required.
  • Prior Aquarium Fish keeping knowledge is preferred but not required.
  • Fluent in other languages is a plus as we have Spanish speaking customers.
  • Enjoy working in a team based environment.
  • Great attitude, disciplined and driven to succeed.
  • Ability to learn and use computer and smartphone software.
  • Love animals and enjoy getting hands wet often!
