First Look at Aquarium Co-Op Easy Flow Sponge Filter Attachment

We've had the Aquarium Co-op Easy Flow accessory running on a few freshwater (FW) store tanks for about a month, and it's a genuinely useful upgrade to a standard sponge filter.

What It Does

Easy Flow replaces the airstone bubbling effect inside the sponge filter body with a ring accessory that creates a fine, non-clogging mist of bubbles while directing water out through a tube as a directed jet. It still drives the sponge's biological filtration and nitrogen cycle processing, but now you also get a controllable stream of current you can aim wherever you need it.

Two Ways to Get It

  • Upgrade kit: works with large, medium, and small Aquarium Co-op sponge filters, and with Nano filters built after a certain date — check your filter's build date before assuming compatibility with older Nano units
  • Built-in kit: newer sponge filters ship with Easy Flow already integrated

Real-World Uses

  • Directing flow across a baffle-divided tank to keep both sides circulating
  • Adding gentle current in tanks without a dedicated powerhead
  • Reduced surface fizzing and splash-back — even with the outlet protruding above the waterline, it doesn't create the surface spray a standard airstone does, keeping the area around the tank drier

The kit is fully modular and height-adjustable, and pieces can be reused across different tank setups.
