Pearlweed (Hemianthus micranthemoides) is a bright green, low-growing stem plant perfect for beginners — versatile enough for foreground, midground, or background use. Constant pruning keeps it low and spreading horizontally; left untrimmed, it grows vertically as a background plant. It's a low-maintenance alternative when foreground carpeting plants are giving you trouble.

Other Usually gets all the nutrients it needs from an enriched substrate and a healthy fish colony. Tolerates substantial pruning — let it grow large and dense, then shape it as desired.

Care & Planting: Trim the ends of stems, group several together, and bury them in the substrate, keeping other foliage clear of them.

A note on appearance: Many stem plants, including this one, are harvested in their above-water (emersed) form, and the photo may not reflect how it looks once fully adjusted to life underwater. Leaf shape and coloration commonly shift as the plant transitions to submersed growth — don't be surprised if new growth looks different from what arrived in your order. Give it a few weeks to acclimate before judging its final look.
