Lindernia rotundifolia 'Variegated'

$5.95 USD

Lindernia Rotundifolia 'Variegated,' often called Dwarf Watermelon, is an attractive, easy-to-grow stem plant native to sandy riverbanks in Asia. Its round, bright green leaves feature distinctive creamy-white veins, giving it a variegated, watermelon-rind look.

Skill Level Easy
CO2 Optional (enhances growth rate and density)
Requires Aqua Soil Recommended
Type Stem
Max Height Up to approx. 16" (40 cm) untrimmed
Placement Midground to background
Light Level Medium to High (approx. 50-100 PAR)
Origin Asia
Other Occasionally a stem reverts to solid green leaves — trim these off to preserve the variegated pattern. Works well as a nano-tank centerpiece or midground bush.

Care & Planting: Trim top stems to encourage branching and prevent the plant from becoming leggy or uprooting. Propagate by trimming tops and replanting into substrate.

A note on appearance: Many stem plants, including this one, are harvested in their above-water (emersed) form, and the photo may not reflect how it looks once fully adjusted to life underwater. Leaf shape and coloration commonly shift as the plant transitions to submersed growth — don't be surprised if new growth looks different from what arrived in your order. Give it a few weeks to acclimate before judging its final look.
