Hygrophila Difformis, also known as Water Wisteria, is a popular, fast-growing stem plant that's extremely easy to care for and well suited for beginners. Leaf shape can vary considerably depending on light intensity and CO2 levels. With frequent trimming it stays compact and low-growing; left untrimmed it can grow quite tall.

Skill Level Easy
CO2 Not Required
Requires Aqua Soil Not required, but recommended
Type Stem
Max Height 10-20"
Placement Midground to background
Light Level Low to Medium (approx. 30-70 PAR)
Origin Asia
Other Very effective at absorbing excess nutrients from the water column; can also be grown floating.

Care & Planting: Remove from bunch wrap/foam, then plant the stems into substrate. Propagate by cutting lateral shoots or along the stem and replanting the cuttings. Avoid drastic changes to water parameters, which can cause melt and rot.

A note on appearance: Many stem plants, including this one, are harvested in their above-water (emersed) form, and the photo may not reflect how it looks once fully adjusted to life underwater. Leaf shape and coloration commonly shift as the plant transitions to submersed growth — don't be surprised if new growth looks different from what arrived in your order. Give it a few weeks to acclimate before judging its final look.
