by Nature Aquariums
Type: TERRANIUM PLANTS
SIZE

Calathea ornata, commonly known as the Pinstripe Plant, is a tropical evergreen perennial known for its dark green leaves decorated with thin, symmetrical pink or white stripes. Native to South American rainforests, it's a member of the "prayer plant" family — its leaves fold upward at night and reopen during the day.

Skill Level Moderate
Light Medium (bright indirect light — direct sun fades the leaf pattern)
Humidity High
Soil / Substrate Rich, well-draining potting mix
Type Rooted (Prayer Plant)
Max Height 24-36"
Placement Midground
Origin South America
Other Available in Small and Large sizes. Leaves exhibit nyctinasty, folding upward at night like other prayer plants.

Care & Planting: Keep soil evenly moist using filtered or distilled water — tap water can cause brown leaf tips. High humidity is important for healthy foliage; avoid direct sunlight, which fades the pattern.
