Common Name: Cabomba Purple (Cabomba furcata)

Note: this listing had no prior description or photo on file. The profile below reflects the standard Cabomba Purple (Cabomba furcata) care profile — please verify against current product photos.

Cabomba Purple is a striking red/purple-toned stem plant with the same finely pinnate, feathery leaves as Green Cabomba. It's more demanding than its green cousin, needing strong light and CO2 to hold its color and avoid leggy growth.

Skill Level Moderate
CO2 Required
Requires Aqua Soil Recommended for best coloration
Type Stem
Max Height Trim regularly to maintain height; grows fast
Placement Mid-Background
Light Level High (approx. 80-120+ PAR)
Origin South America
Other Family: Cabombaceae. Fragile stems — handle with care during planting.

Care & Planting: Remove from its lead bunch and wrapping, then plant into quality substrate with some spacing. Trim regularly; trimmings can be replanted to propagate new plants.

A note on appearance: Many stem plants, including this one, are harvested in their above-water (emersed) form, and the photo may not reflect how it looks once fully adjusted to life underwater. Leaf shape and coloration commonly shift as the plant transitions to submersed growth — don't be surprised if new growth looks different from what arrived in your order. Give it a few weeks to acclimate before judging its final look.
