Aponogeton Boivinianus

$10.95 USD

Common Name: Aponogeton Boivinianus

Native to Madagascar, Aponogeton Boivinianus is prized for its long, dark green leaves with a distinctive hammered (crinkled) texture, making it an excellent focal point in the planted aquarium. It is a bulb plant and may occasionally enter a period of dormancy — if this happens, simply be patient; new foliage will emerge in time, or the bulb can be lifted and rested in moist sand before replanting.

Skill Level Moderate (bulb may cycle through dormancy)
CO2 Optional
Requires Aqua Soil Yes — benefits from a loose, nutrient-rich substrate for bulb rooting
Type Bulb
Max Height Background-scale; exact mature height varies by specimen
Placement Mid-Background, focal point plant
Light Level Medium (approx. 40-80 PAR)
Origin Madagascar
Other Family: Aponogetonaceae. Prefers soft to medium water hardness. Available as bare root and bulb.

Care & Planting: Plant the bulb with the growing point up, partially buried in substrate — avoid fully burying it to prevent rot. If the plant enters dormancy, it can be left in place or lifted and rested in moist sand until new growth appears.
