Ive been a fan of this filter evern since i purchased one for my 3 gallon. The XL is in a 20 gallon along with a sponge filter just hecause you can never have too much filtration! For the cost, easy maintenance, this is a no brainer. Load it up with your favorite media and you sre good to go. You wont be disappointed.
