Echinodorus 'Red Flame' is a hybrid of Echinodorus schlueteri 'Leopard' and Echinodorus barthii, and one of the easiest red-colored sword plants to grow in the aquarium. Bright red new leaves are covered in dark red speckles, making it a great centerpiece plant suited to hobbyists of any experience level.

Care & Planting: Plant the root crown in nutrient-rich substrate, keeping the crown itself above the substrate line. Like most Echinodorus, it's a heavy root feeder and benefits from root tabs.

A note on melting: Amazon Swords and other Echinodorus (as well as Cryptocoryne) can experience "melting" — sudden dieback of leaves — after planting or a change in water conditions. This is a normal stress response; leave the root system in place and new, tank-adapted growth will typically emerge within a few weeks.
