Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Mi Oya' — commonly known as "Red Wendtii" — is one of the most popular Cryptocoryne varieties in the aquarium trade, prized for its reddish coloration and vigorous, easy growth. It tolerates a wide range of lighting and doesn't require supplemental CO2, making it an excellent choice for beginners. Color and size vary with conditions: brighter light and regular fertilizing bring out its best red tone and fuller size, while lower light keeps the plant smaller but still attractive.

Care & Planting: Plant the roots/rhizome into substrate, keeping the crown exposed. Like other Cryptocoryne, this plant can experience "crypt melt" — a temporary die-back of leaves — when moved to a new tank or when water parameters change suddenly. This is normal; keep parameters stable and the plant will typically regrow from its roots within a few weeks.
