Utricularia Graminifolia (UG) is a highly sought-after foreground plant that produces a grass-like lawn carpet. This carnivorous plant resembles an aquatic grass, with thin stalks growing from roots that spread horizontally by sending out runners. High lighting and CO2 injection aren't strictly necessary but will increase growth speed and carpet thickness. Can be grown submersed or emersed in dry-start setups and Wabi Kusa.

Skill Level Moderate
CO2 Optional
Requires Aqua Soil Not required, but recommended
Type Rooted (Carpet, non-Sword/Crypt)
Max Height 1-2.5"
Placement Foreground
Light Level Medium to High (approx. 50-100 PAR)
Origin Asia
Other Carnivorous plant — captures microscopic organisms via small bladder traps on its roots. Remove tissue culture gel before planting by rinsing or squeezing off under water.

Care & Planting: Separate larger mats into small portions and plant each about an inch apart, halfway into the substrate. After several weeks the plant sends out runners and fills in a lush foreground carpet.
