Anacharis (Egeria densa)

$4.95 USD

Anacharis (Egeria densa) is a classic, easy-to-keep aquarium plant tolerant of a wide range of conditions, with dark green stems and a lush, bushy appearance. It can be kept free-floating or anchored into substrate, and is also popular in the water garden trade as an oxygenating plant.

Important: Egeria densa is a regulated/invasive species in parts of the United States and is not legal to sell or possess in some states. Please check your local and state regulations before purchasing. Never release aquarium plants into wild waterways.

Skill Level Easy
CO2 Not Required
Requires Aqua Soil No — grows well rooted or free-floating in any substrate
Type Stem
Max Height 4-12"+ (longer if left to float)
Placement Background, or free-floating
Light Level Low to Medium (approx. 20-50 PAR)
Origin South America; naturalized in parts of North America — check local regulations before purchasing
Other Prefers cooler water but tolerates warm water as well. A great first live plant — very hard to kill.

Care & Planting: Can be left loose to float or anchored into substrate. Propagate by cutting the stem and replanting cuttings. As with all farm-grown stem plants, the photo may not reflect its submersed look — leaf shape and color often shift once the plant adjusts to underwater growth.
