Rotala Macrandra 'Bangladesh' is a beautiful red plant from Asia. Compared to other stem plants it's highly demanding, needing high-intensity lighting, no shade, and high CO2 injection. To prevent self-shading, plant individual stems far enough apart for lower leaves to get enough light. Once established it grows quickly — up to 4" per week in ideal conditions. To keep the distinctive red color, keep phosphates at 1.5-2.0 ppm and nitrates at 10ppm or less; an imbalance leads to stunted growth or discolored leaves. Best used sparingly — a small number of well-placed stems stands out more than a dense mass.

Care & Planting: Cut the newest growth at the base and replant into substrate to propagate. Handle gently — leaves are fragile.

A note on appearance: Many stem plants, including this one, are harvested in their above-water (emersed) form, and the photo may not reflect how it looks once fully adjusted to life underwater. Leaf shape and coloration commonly shift as the plant transitions to submersed growth — don't be surprised if new growth looks different from what arrived in your order. Give it a few weeks to acclimate before judging its final look.
