Downoi (Pogostemon helferi 'Downoi') is a low-growing aquatic plant originating from Thailand that has become popular over the past several years. A midground plant that, given sufficient lighting and nutrients, grows into a thick bush of green foliage with a unique appearance — long, wavy leaves that almost resemble Buce catherinae types. It can grow both emersed and submerged. Tissue culture plants are grown in vitro in a specialized aquatic-plant lab, the best option for anyone who wants zero unwanted pests introduced into the aquarium.
