Downoi (Pogostemon helferi 'Downoi') is a low-growing aquatic plant originating from Thailand that has become popular over the past several years. A midground plant that, given sufficient lighting and nutrients, grows into a thick bush of green foliage with a unique appearance — long, wavy leaves that almost resemble Buce catherinae types. It can grow both emersed and submerged. Tissue culture plants are grown in vitro in a specialized aquatic-plant lab, the best option for anyone who wants zero unwanted pests introduced into the aquarium.

Care & Planting: Not considered difficult to grow as long as lighting is sufficient. CO2 is not strictly necessary but helps it thrive. Side shoots develop as the plant matures — propagate by cutting any side shoots or along the stem and replanting.
