Common Name: Cardinal Plant

Cardinal Plant is a marsh plant native to the US, found growing along streams, rivers, and waterways. Leaves are typically green when grown submerged, but as the plant grows taller and reaches the water's surface, emersed leaves develop a red or purple tint.

A note on appearance: Many stem plants, including this one, are harvested in their above-water (emersed) form, and the photo may not reflect how it looks once fully adjusted to life underwater. This one in particular is known to shift leaf color noticeably as it grows — green when submerged, developing red/purple tones as it reaches the surface. Give it a few weeks to acclimate before judging its final look.
