Hygrophila Araguaia is an uncommon foreground-to-midground plant named after the Araguaia River in Brazil. Unlike many Hygrophila species, it grows in short, bushy clusters rather than tall stems, giving it a rosette-like appearance while still being a true stem plant. Under strong light it can develop a reddish-brown coloration.

Skill Level Easy
CO2 Optional (recommended)
Requires Aqua Soil Recommended
Type Stem
Max Height 2-5"
Placement Foreground to midground
Light Level High (approx. 60-100 PAR)
Origin Brazil
Other Grows well both emersed and submerged; short, bushy growth habit adds texture to the midground.

Care & Planting: Remove from bunch wrap/foam, then plant the stems into substrate. Propagate by cutting lateral shoots or by cutting along the main stem and replanting.

A note on appearance: Many stem plants, including this one, are harvested in their above-water (emersed) form, and the photo may not reflect how it looks once fully adjusted to life underwater. Leaf shape and coloration commonly shift as the plant transitions to submersed growth โ€” don't be surprised if new growth looks different from what arrived in your order. Give it a few weeks to acclimate before judging its final look.
