Hemigraphis exotica, the Purple Waffle Plant, is frequently mis-sold in stores as a true aquatic plant — it is not. It can survive fully submerged only briefly before melting away, and instead thrives grown emersed in a high-humidity terrarium or paludarium. Leaves are green on top with a bright purple underside, in a ruffled, wrinkly texture that contrasts nicely against other foliage.
